Nike and Apple have teamed up to create an innovative “relationship” between their products. A sensor device embedded in the shoes will notify users about health status, calories burned, and more, all displayed on an iPod music player.

Users will receive this information through their headphones via a digital voice, and data from their long runs can be uploaded to a PC or Macintosh.
The Air Zoom Moire and Air Zoom are the first products in this line introduced by the giant footwear company. The collaboration with Nike marks a new advancement for Apple in attracting a new customer base to their mobile entertainment devices.
Both companies are also providing additional content beyond music for their customers, including advice from marathon runner Alberto Salazar and motivational messages from cycling champion Lance Armstrong.
This fall, Nike plans to launch six more shoe models equipped with sensor technology. In the long term, customers can anticipate the Nike-iPod combination in apparel such as jackets, hats, armbands, and shorts.
The sensor kit, named Sport Kit, is priced at $29 and requires a pair of Nike shoes and a USB 2.0 compatible iPod Nano. The Sport Kit can upload data to a Macintosh running OS X version 10.3.9 or later, iTunes 6.0.5, or a Windows PC with Windows 2000, XP, and iTunes 6.0.5.
