A farmer in Dong Thap Province has created a semi-automatic water spraying machine with several advantages: it distributes water evenly (like rain), reduces labor costs, operates quickly, and consumes less fuel.
Mr. Nguyen Van Khach, 46 years old, a farmer from Tan Thanh Commune, Lai Vung District, Dong Thap Province, has dedicated considerable time to research, design, and successfully fabricate a semi-automatic water spraying machine for use in his garden. This machine is mounted on a small boat that requires only one operator and runs on an engine type F5, F7, NT80, NT85, or D12…
Depending on whether the water pipe has a diameter of 4 or 5 centimeters, it includes a set of two water delivery pipes and two “lifting rods” to move the two nozzles as desired. The nozzle assembly is triangular, with a length of about 60 centimeters and a width of 6 to 8 millimeters. The lifting rods allow for adjusting the angle of the water spraying, creating the necessary pressure to propel the boat forward. This water spraying machine is particularly suitable for orchards with many furrows. The investment cost for one semi-automatic water spraying machine is 7.5 million VND.
Mr. Khach stated: “Previously, with 1.6 hectares of grapefruit orchard, watering was labor-intensive; it took 4 people using a Kohler machine, starting from 7 AM until 3 PM to finish. Since using this spraying machine, I have reduced the time required for the entire orchard to just 2.5 hours with only one person. Each year, I save 15 million VND in watering costs.”
