According to a report from the Project Office for the Management of Strategic Areas for Integrated Conservation (MOSAIC) under the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Indochina Program on October 27, conservation experts from the project recently discovered a population of the gray-legged langur, classified in group 1B of Decree 48/2002/CP, prohibiting exploitation and use for commercial purposes. This species is endemic to Vietnam and can be found in forests from Quang Nam to Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces.
The MOSAIC office, along with the Quang Nam Forest Protection Department, is currently undertaking conservation efforts for this particularly rare primate through monitoring initiatives. WWF – Indochina Program will provide funding of 20,000 USD per year for these conservation efforts.
