A famous meat shop in Japan is known for its Kobe beef croquettes that are so delicious that customers are willing to wait years, even decades, just to try them.
Meat & Delicatessen Asahiya, a renowned butcher shop located in Takasago City, Hyōgo Prefecture, has been serving its legendary crispy Kobe beef croquettes since it opened in 1918. The demand for the shop’s famous Kobe beef croquettes is so high that people often have to wait years, and in some cases, decades, to receive their orders.

On April 28th, a Twitter user named @hayasino posted a status announcing that he had finally received his order of Kobe beef croquettes from Meat & Delicatessen Asahiya after a long wait of 9 years!
Immediately, many people commented, saying that he was quite lucky to have waited only 9 years. Many shared that their families had ordered this dish when they were children, and now those individuals have become parents themselves without ever receiving their croquettes.
In fact, the shop’s website states that the longest wait time for an order is 30 years!
The wait time for this dish might make you give up.
However, the price for this dish is only 2,700 yen (about $21) for a pack of 5 croquettes—but the insane wait time might discourage you.
According to the Meat & Delicatessen Asahiya website, making these croquettes is a labor-intensive process, and since they only use the finest and rarest Kobe beef, only about 200 pieces are made each day.
Fortunately, Asahiya also offers a variety of other delicious dishes, including beef noodles that people rave about from the very first bite. But if you want the best that this legendary butcher shop has to offer, you will have to wait quite a while.
