“ICT – Lighting the Path of Hope for People with Disabilities” is the first competition in Vietnam aimed at selecting IT and communication products and applications that support people with disabilities in living, working, and integrating into the community.

The competition is organized by the Vietnam Informatics Association, the Office for Coordinating Activities for People with Disabilities in Vietnam (NCCD), and the Office of the National Steering Committee for IT. The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the National Steering Committee for IT, and Vietnam Television are the supporting units. VNPT Group is the sole sponsor.
The awards will be presented to four participant groups, including: an award for products created by people with disabilities, an award for IT and communication products serving people with disabilities, an award for significant contributions to IT and communication applications for people with disabilities, and another award for products in the field of IT and communication that significantly contribute to the inclusion of people with disabilities in the community.
According to the next plan, from now until October 2006, the organizing committee will launch and maintain a website widely introducing the awards, while also initiating exchanges in various regions across the country to encourage people with disabilities to apply IT and communication, fostering community integration.
Scheduled to take place over the course of a year, the award ceremony is expected to be broadcast live on VTV on December 3, 2006.
