Notably, this town was not originally a tourist destination. It wasn’t until Telč experienced a significant revival after a fire in 1530, which destroyed and severely damaged all wooden houses, that it truly transformed.
About 17 years after the devastating fire, a man named Zacharias of Hradec came to power. Recognizing the potential of this land, Zacharias decided to rebuild the castle and other structures in a grand Renaissance style.

It is known that the entire town was restored in the 16th century, with each house facade reflecting a unique Baroque style, featuring domes and a variety of colorful paints that create diversity while maintaining structural consistency.
Along the winding roads that surround green fields and weave through tree canopies, you will find numerous shops, churches, and even castles designed with elegance.

Additionally, a must-visit location for any traveler is Hradec Square, which can only be compared to the magnificent Prague Square but boasts a classical beauty reminiscent of scenes described in Andersen’s fairy tales.
Thanks to the preservation of this unique architecture from the 16th century to the present day, the center of Telč has demonstrated its importance by being awarded the title of World Heritage in 1992, recognized by UNESCO and listed as a “must-visit” destination for many travel enthusiasts.
