Get ready to perform surgery in a virtual emergency room with an exciting new video game for the Wii gaming system set to be released by Nintendo.
Developed by Atlus, based in California, the game “Trauma Center: Second Opinion” allows players to transform the highly sensitive, ergonomically designed Wii controller into a scalpel in various “emergency medical situations.”
Additionally, players can use the controller as a defibrillator to revive the heart of a virtual patient if it stops beating.
“The situations in the game are very intense,” said Tom Hulett, director at Atlus. “This is the only console game that offers you this kind of experience.” Trauma Center is currently being showcased at the ongoing E3 exhibition in Los Angeles.
“This will be a great game for those who are considering a career in medicine,” Hulett declared. “Of course, it is not intended to completely replace medical schools. I certainly wouldn’t let someone perform an appendectomy on me just because they learned through Trauma Center.”
Scheduled for release in November, “Trauma Center” will launch alongside Nintendo’s new gaming system, the Wii.
