NEC Corporation has developed a smart gas mask that allows the wearer to see in the dark and provides crucial information while navigating through smoke-filled areas.
NEC Corporation has successfully developed a smart gas mask for firefighters.
Experts from NEC state that this smart mask is equipped with an infrared camera, enabling firefighters to easily navigate and locate individuals waiting for rescue, even in harsh conditions. The images are displayed on a small screen positioned near the eyes.
In addition to providing firefighters with vital data such as the oxygen levels in their tanks, the smart mask also shares images and data with commanders, allowing them to communicate with firefighters operating in dangerous environments.
NEC plans to implement this mask for use by early 2023.
