Strange species of flora and fauna have always been a hot topic, attracting a lot of views on social media. Recently, two women shared their experience of encountering a rare flower growing wild along the roadside during the early days of the New Year. Moreover, its name is quite fitting for the festive atmosphere of Tet.
According to the video’s owner, she referred to this flower as Thai Lotus. Its plant grows in lush green clumps, quite tall, but the flowers, when blooming, are hidden deep below. When she held it in her hand, the girl compared it to being made of “candle wax”, while affirming once again that this is a real flower, not a fake one just for views.
The rare flower peeking out from deep within the bushes, its beauty is simply stunning.
In the comments section, netizens were buzzing about the identity of this rare flower:
– “In my area, we call it Thai Lotus, Da Loc Lotus, or Avalokiteshvara Lotus.”
– “I have many Da Loc flowers at home; if you water and fertilize them well, they bloom all year round.”
– “Even if you hadn’t mentioned it, I would have thought it was fake; it’s so beautiful.”
– “Seeing this flower at the beginning of the year must bring a lot of luck for the whole year.”
It is known that Da Loc Lotus originates from Indonesia, with the scientific name Nicolai Editor. Additionally, it is also referred to as earth lotus. Its plant grows in clumps, resembling a member of the ginger family. The leaves are long and parallel, with large, sturdy sheaths. A mature plant can reach heights of 4 to 5 meters. The flowers grow straight from the base and develop vertically. The petals are firm, pink-red in color, glossy, and odorless; with proper care, the flower’s diameter can reach up to 25 cm.
This flower has a name and beauty very suitable for the early days of the New Year.
In fact, Da Loc Lotus blooms year-round rather than just twice a year; the flowers on the plant can last up to a month, and cut flowers can last 5 to 7 days. Besides the pink-red color, the flowers can also be white.
