The clip recorded by the robotics company Unitree (China) shows a squad of four-legged robots repeatedly performing push-up-like movements in perfect unison.
Unitree is a robotics manufacturer based in China. These AI-assisted robots are called Aliengo. They are designed with depth perception, enhanced protective features, and other capabilities.
Many users expressed horror at the images in the video. (Screenshot from the video).
Aliengo was unveiled at the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show. It weighs 11.8 kg and has a battery life of up to 2 hours. Aliengo is highly regarded for its ability to move at a speed of 3 m/s.
Many users expressed horror at the images in the video, claiming that this robot army is no different from destroyers. Some even worry that China is attempting to militarize this technology.
Meanwhile, Unitree asserts that Aliengo will assist in real-world tasks. Each Aliengo can carry a payload of up to 5 kg, making it suitable for operations in factories.
Although Aliengo is harmless, some Twitter users caution that the U.S. should be wary of China’s rapidly advancing AI technology.
