On the morning of January 22, 2006, in Hanoi, under the direction of Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) Vu Duc Dam, the “Forum to Promote the Application and Development of Information Technology in Vietnam” was inaugurated.
Attending the forum were leaders from many of the world’s top IT corporations: Intel, Microsoft, Cisco, HP, IBM, IDG, and more. This event serves as a bridge between the global IT industry and Vietnam.
The initiative to organize this forum by the MIC aims to enhance dialogue between the ministry and the IT community. Through the forum, speakers will share insights, contribute opinions, and provide support to promote the development of Vietnam’s IT market. According to the plan, the forum will be held regularly.
At the opening session, Minister of MIC Do Trung Ta highlighted the achievements of Vietnam’s IT and Internet sectors. The minister stated that participants in the forum need to collaborate closely and support each other in all efforts to advance Vietnam’s IT market. In line with global development trends, the MIC will place greater emphasis on the active participation of leading global IT corporations in Vietnam’s IT market. The ministry hopes these corporations will not only be providers of IT services and products but also strategic partners in Vietnam. The MIC is ready to support the action plans of IT corporations operating in Vietnam.
During this forum, several important topics were discussed, including: Key issues to promote Vietnam’s IT; Implementation of priority programs and some major challenges that Vietnam’s IT sector is facing; Promoting IT applications in areas such as e-government and e-commerce; Training human resources for IT; and some IT activities leading up to the APEC 2006 Summit. Additionally, speakers discussed the operational methods for this forum moving forward.
