Even in hot weather, avoid very cold drinks (Photo: photo-year) |
As summer approaches with its hot and humid weather, most people tend to choose cold food and drinks. However, consuming too many cold beverages can easily lead to immediate bodily discomfort.
Experts explain that when the body generates heat or the external temperature rises, the body’s ability to dissipate heat increases. Suddenly drinking something cold can stimulate a reflex response in the body that is already warm.
At that moment, the stomach, being overly stimulated by the cold, causes blood vessels to constrict for an extended period, hindering blood circulation and significantly reducing the body’s immune response. Sweat glands simultaneously close, resulting in blocked perspiration and trapped body heat.
Moreover, unexpectedly consuming cold food and drinks can lead to digestive disorders, loss of appetite, diarrhea, and added strain on the heart and kidneys, leaving the body in a constant state of fatigue.
Therefore, during hot summer days, if one wishes to consume cold items, it should be based on individual health conditions, considering both quantity and tolerance.
Even in hot weather, it is advisable to avoid very cold drinks, and one should not consume too much at once, especially for children, the elderly, and those with weaker constitutions, who should be even more cautious to ensure their health.
