When a Komodo dragon bit down on its body, the king cobra quickly turned and struck back at its foe.
While foraging for food, the Komodo dragon unexpectedly encountered a king cobra. Instantly, the dragon lunged towards its opponent and clamped its strong jaws onto the snake’s body.
Faced with such a large adversary, the king cobra proved it was not to be underestimated. Despite suffering a severe bite, it managed to slither backward and bite the dragon on its back.
Unfortunately, this strike had no effect on the tough skin of the Komodo dragon. Ultimately, the dragon overpowered the snake, slamming it to the ground until it was dead and then consumed it.
The Komodo dragon is a large lizard species typically found on the islands of Indonesia. They belong to the genus Varanus in the family Varanidae and are the largest living lizard species, with a body length that can reach up to 3 meters and a weight of around 70 kg.
Despite their massive size, they can run quite fast, reaching speeds of about 20 km/h. Additionally, they can dive underwater to depths of 5 meters and climb trees like other lizard species.
Komodo dragons are carnivorous, with a preference for prey such as invertebrates, birds, herbivores, and even mammals. They can take down many animals much larger than themselves, such as water buffalo, wild boar, or Timor deer, with a single terrifying bite.
The venom in the mouths of Komodo dragons is highly potent, similar to the venom of many snake species. When they bite, the venom seeps into the prey’s body through the saliva. This toxin causes the prey to become disoriented due to nerve paralysis, dilates blood vessels, and prevents blood clotting.
