American scientists have previously discovered a “tenth planet” in the Solar System, and they have now announced an exciting new finding: this planet has a moon.
While observing the aforementioned “tenth planet,” a team of astronomers led by Professor Michael Brown from the California Institute of Technology discovered a faint object moving alongside the planet. Its movement led scientists to believe it is a “moon,” rather than a star, which typically remains stationary.
The discovery of this “moon” is highly significant because by determining the distance and orbit of the moon, scientists will be able to calculate the mass of the newly identified planet.
In July, Professor Brown’s team discovered the “tenth planet,” named Sena, located nearly 15 billion kilometers from Earth. This planet is one and a half times the size of Pluto and is the fastest-moving object in the Solar System’s orbit ever recorded.
