On the morning of August 4th, six of the best teams from across the country participated in the final round of the “Journey to Save the Tiger” competition organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Trần Tuấn Minh from Foreign Trade University won the first prize.
The competition is part of the project “Changing Behaviors – Reducing Consumption of Wildlife Products in Hanoi, Vietnam“, which saw participation from over 100 authors and teams from various provinces nationwide.
After being assessed on presentation skills, conservation knowledge, fundraising solutions, and feasibility, Trần Tuấn Minh’s project proposal successfully surpassed the other five teams to claim the top prize. Dương Hằng Linh from National Economics University received the second prize, while the FWW group from Quảng Ngãi took home the third prize.
Expressing his joy over winning the prize, which includes a visit to the Sarafi Zoo in Singapore, Trần Tuấn Minh shared: “I am very happy that as an economics student, I can contribute to the cause of nature conservation and sustainable development. I also hope that my ideas and those of my peers will be selected and implemented to truly make the tiger rescue center a reality.”

Speaking about the “Journey to Save the Tiger” competition, Tuấn Minh mentioned that he has gained a lot of knowledge about wildlife conservation, understood the urgency of the situation, and above all, recognized the responsibility of the younger generation towards wildlife conservation efforts.
The “Journey to Save the Tiger” aims to raise awareness about the current situation of endangered wildlife consumption while providing a platform for young people to contribute to conservation in the most practical way.
Prior to the final round, participants were required to write a proposal describing their fundraising ideas for a tiger rescue center in Vietnam over the course of a year. The outstanding teams from the first round were invited to participate in a field trip to Cuc Phuong National Park in Ninh Bình to gain a better understanding of the status of several endangered wildlife species.
The competition is organized by WWF and TRAFFIC in collaboration with the Hanoi Student Association and the Hanoi Youth Union. Through this competition, the organizers hope that the youth of our country will pay more attention to the critical situation of rare wildlife species that are being illegally traded and consumed, thereby taking real action to contribute to the preservation of Vietnam’s precious natural resources.
