New products in the x86 server line utilizing Intel’s latest dual-core technology – the Intel Xeon DP processors were introduced by HP on February 21, 2006, in Ho Chi Minh City during the roadshow “HP Proliant Dual Core Server“. The program will also take place in Hanoi and Jakarta (Indonesia) in the coming time.
According to HP, initially, the company will launch HP ProLiant DL380 servers with 2 processors, HP ProLiant ML570, and DL580 with 4 processors into the market. The new HP ProLiant servers equipped with the new Intel Xeon dual-core processors can enhance enterprise application performance by up to 44%. HP also plans to expand the ProLiant server product line with new products utilizing Intel Xeon dual-core processors and to produce these new products in large quantities.
Ricky Chu, the product manager for industry-standard servers at HP for the Asia-Pacific region stated: “Most organizations currently use single-core processor servers, but at this point, we encourage customers to adopt dual-core or multi-core servers due to their superior features.” HP officials also predict that 2006 will be a transitional period for businesses to switch to dual-core processor servers, 2007 will be the year of these servers, and by 2008, multi-core processor servers will dominate the market.
