A video showcasing a spectacular dust tornado on a field, lifting clouds of dust under the scorching sun in Thailand, is garnering significant attention.
At the time of the tornado, the weather was extremely hot, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.
The video, captured by Poonchida Sukamnui on May 8, shows a brown dust tornado suddenly appearing in an open area and swirling up dust as it moves across fields in Phetchaburi Province.
Poonchida Sukamnui noted that at the time of the tornado, the weather was very hot, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. She expressed: “I have never seen a tornado like this before. I think it’s because it was so hot that day.”
A dust tornado is a type of tornado that forms when the sun heats a patch of land, causing the air above to become warmer and rise rapidly. Cooler air then moves into the low-pressure area left by the rising warm air. The new cooler air also heats up and rises, and the cycle continues, picking up dust and debris and creating a visible spiral.
