The extremely rare phenomenon of “triple lotus” has been observed in Thai Chou Town, Zhejiang Province, eastern China.
As summer arrives, lotus flowers bloom spectacularly across Zhejiang Province, China. This year’s lotus season in Thai Chou Town has attracted additional attention from flower enthusiasts and photographers due to the appearance of a stem with three lotus blooms.

The occurrence of double or triple lotuses – also known as multi-headed lotus – is extremely rare worldwide. According to China News, the chance of two lotus flowers appearing on the same stem is only 1 in 100,000, but this ratio is still significantly higher than that of triple lotuses.
Scientists have not yet been able to cultivate multi-headed lotuses due to a lack of understanding regarding the genetic mechanisms. Therefore, they only exist under natural conditions.

With their elegant beauty, lotus flowers are highly favored in China and are often cultivated in ponds for ornamental purposes. In some countries, such as Vietnam and India, the lotus has even been chosen as the national flower. The best time to enjoy blooming lotuses is from mid to late June.
