A man went to the fields and used a knife to cut a line through a patch of water spinach. He then pulled up the water spinach with his hands. To his surprise, underneath the water spinach were many fish hiding.
Using only his hands, the man harvested a “huge” catch.
These were climbing catfish (Scientific name: Clariidae). Although the environment beneath the water spinach was quite lacking in water, this species of catfish still thrived, thanks to its ability to absorb air through a special organ in its gills.
After pulling up a patch of water spinach, the man simply collected the large fish and placed them into a basin. If he had turned over the entire patch of water spinach, who knows how many more fish he would have caught!
