The man shared that this has been a terrifying time for him as his eyes remain wide open despite his desire to close them. He has nearly fallen into despair over the strange condition affecting his eyes.
Pete Broadhurst’s issues began in 1959, following a dental surgery that left him with a rare condition known as cheek hypertrophy. His wife left him because she found his appearance unappealing.
In 2019, Pete Broadhurst decided to undergo surgery to lift his neck, reshape the bags under his eyes, and perform a nose job. However, after the surgery, Pete Broadhurst ended up looking even worse and could not close his eyes.
Pete Broadhurst’s eyes remain open even while he sleeps. He has to apply eye drops eight times a day to prevent dryness. When he wants to sleep, he must cover his eyes completely.

Months after the initial surgery, doctors arranged a free corrective surgery for him, but ultimately, his left eye still could not close.
The father of two asserts: “I still cannot completely close my left eye for nearly three years now. My eye is misshapen, and I can hardly see anything. I struggle to sleep and still have to use a cover every night.”
His vision has deteriorated to the point where he cannot drive or see people’s faces clearly.
