Infants in the breastfeeding stage often experience bouts of abdominal pain, sometimes with unclear causes. If you are unaware of how to respond promptly, it can be distressing to see your baby crying and uncomfortable.
Here are some suggestions to help you calmly address the situation:
1. Identify the cause of your baby’s discomfort, such as teething or a wet, tight diaper. If your baby is experiencing stomach pain, review the nutritional components in their milk.
2. If your baby is crying intensely due to pain, soothe them by gently holding them, cuddling them, and distracting them with toys or lullabies to help them forget the pain momentarily.
3. Wrap a warm cloth around their belly and gently massage the area to provide comfort.
4. Use your hands to gently rotate your baby’s legs in a circular motion to create warmth.
5. If the pain persists frequently and does not improve, it is best to take your baby to the nearest doctor to identify the cause and determine appropriate treatment.
