Seeing a fellow member being taken down by a pride of lions, a herd of African buffalo immediately rushed in to confront the predators and rescue the injured member.
This intense scene was captured at the Motswari Nature Reserve in South Africa.
Upon discovering a fellow in distress, a buffalo rushed in to rescue.
In the clip, an adult African buffalo is being taken down by a pride of lions and is about to become their meal. Upon noticing the distress of its fellow, a buffalo immediately charged in to help.
Despite the overwhelming number of lions, the buffalo showed no fear and used its sharp horns to toss the predator away. At the same time, other buffaloes from the herd also rushed in to assist, causing the pride of lions to flee in panic. The unfortunate buffalo, despite having a part of its belly torn open, still tried to get up and move towards its herd.
Thanks to the timely assistance from its companions, the buffalo was fortunate to escape death. However, with severe injuries inflicted by the lions, its chances of survival remain slim.
In reality, buffaloes are not easy prey in Africa. If a lion hunts alone and is overconfident, it can easily sustain serious injuries or even lose its life. Therefore, when hunting buffaloes, lions typically hunt in packs, targeting the isolated or weakest individuals for an easier kill. However, if the herd gathers and fights back, the situation becomes much more challenging for the lions.
