After driving off its rivals from the swamp, a young hippopotamus charged onto the shore to “tease” 15 lions, leaving them with nothing but regret.
This daring act of the hippopotamus was captured by tourists at Kruger National Park in South Africa.
The hippopotamus intentionally charges onto the shore to “tease” its rivals.
According to reports, when the lion pride was drinking water at the edge of the swamp, one hippopotamus separated from its group and slowly approached to chase the lions away. Not stopping there, this hippopotamus then deliberately charged onto the shore to “tease” its opponents.
Despite being outnumbered, the lions chose to flee and relinquished the waterhole to the hippopotamus to avoid a potentially lethal confrontation.
Though not a purely carnivorous species, hippopotamuses are large herbivorous mammals equipped with formidable weapons such as: wide jaws, thick skin akin to armor, unpredictable temperaments, resilience, and an incredibly strong bite capable of attacking crocodiles or crushing crocodiles that are about 3 meters long.
They are particularly aggressive when their territory is infringed upon or when their young are threatened. With their extremely irritable nature, conflicts among hippopotamuses often only conclude when one is killed.
