A cat sits still while a cobra expands its hood in a threatening manner without daring to move. After nearly an hour of confrontation, the venomous snake was captured.
This incident occurred in the Kapilas area, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India.
The cat faces off against a cobra.
Images captured show a cat in a tense standoff with a 1.2-meter-long cobra. While the snake was puffing up its hood to threaten its opponent, the cat remained still.
The intense standoff lasted nearly an hour. Eventually, rescue workers arrived and captured the snake, placing it in a sack.
Subhendu Mallik, secretary of the Snake Helpline, stated: “We thoroughly examined the cat and found no bite marks on its body. Cobras have the ability to kill cats, but this cat was ready to risk its life to protect its family.”
The cobra was later released into a nearby forest.
