This giant carp is only 2kg lighter than the boy.
According to the Daily Mail, 11-year-old Callum Pettit from Ashford, England, caught a carp weighing up to 43.5 kg while fishing with his father at a lake near Reims, France.

Callum took 20 minutes to bring the fish ashore. Due to the murky water, both he and his father initially did not realize how big the fish was.
It wasn’t until Callum’s father decided to net the fish that he realized it was one of the largest carp in Europe, nicknamed Big Girl.
“It really is a giant carp. Callum has more chances of winning the lottery than catching a fish this size,” said Stuart, Callum’s father.
The father-son duo had planned their fishing trip to France since 2020, but due to the pandemic, the trip was postponed until this year.
Callum has been passionate about fishing since he was young. The largest fish he had caught before was a mirror carp weighing 13 kg.
Previously, in 2018, a man from the Netherlands named Michel Schoenmakers caught a mirror carp weighing up to 51.2 kg.
