South Korean electronics giant Samsung has announced a successful expansion of the capacity for the world’s fastest memory chip, OneNAND. This version has been developed based on 60 nm manufacturing technology.
The new OneNAND chip from Samsung doubles the capacity from the old version of 1 GB to 2 GB, while also increasing the write speed from 9.3 Mb/s to 17 Mb/s.
Equipped with both NOR technology, which has a high read speed, and the outstanding storage capabilities of NAND, the OneNAND product promises to be integrated into various applications, from multimedia phones and digital cameras to removable memory cards, computers, and digital TVs.
With its high performance, OneNAND is considered a key catalyst in establishing new product markets, such as transforming OneNAND into a cache memory in hybrid hard drive lines.
