Mr. Hoàng Văn Năm, Deputy Director of the Animal Health Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, announced that on November 4, 20 million doses of H5N1 vaccine imported from China will arrive in Vietnam.
According to Mr. Năm, 75 million poultry have been vaccinated against H5N1 and H5N2; the vaccination for poultry and waterfowl across the country will be completed in November.
Today, November 3, in Hanoi, a meeting was held to implement measures for avian flu prevention, chaired by Minister Cao Đức Phát of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, to discuss urgent measures against avian influenza.
In light of the risk of a bird flu pandemic, members of the Bird Flu Prevention Steering Committee recommended urgent measures including enhancing strict disease surveillance; strengthening domestic and border quarantine; and prohibiting the breeding and slaughtering of poultry within city limits…
Although the disease has not yet occurred, given the unfavorable developments of avian flu worldwide, the Steering Committee will recommend to the government the establishment of a delegation to inspect avian flu prevention efforts nationwide.
