A 4-Year-Old Girl from the Czech Republic Becomes the Youngest to Reach Base Camp on Mount Everest.
The girl who achieved this remarkable feat is Zara Šifra, born in the Czech Republic and currently living in Malaysia.
Along with her father and 7-year-old brother, Zara undertook the challenging journey of 435 kilometers to reach the base camp at an altitude of 5,400 meters.

Zara’s father, David Šifra, carefully monitored his children’s oxygen saturation levels throughout the climb.
Photos shared on Instagram show Zara walking alongside her brother and enjoying the breathtaking views of the Himalayas.
Mr. David stated: “There were no issues throughout the journey; their adaptation to the high-altitude climate was above average. And Zara, thanks to her excellent physical condition, was able to adapt to the climate even better than hundreds of other trekkers.”
“How could a 4-year-old girl manage such physical and mental challenges?”
Mr. Šifra emphasized that Zara’s unusual upbringing in Malaysia had helped her train successfully for the demanding trek, ultimately enabling her to set a world record.

The previous world record for the youngest person to reach base camp on Mount Everest was held by Prisha Lokesh Nikajoo, who was only 5 years old when she made the ascent in 2023.
Regardless of the age of the climbers, the journey to even the base camp of Everest poses significant physical challenges and can lead to serious altitude sickness—even death.
Symptoms typically manifest 6 to 24 hours after reaching an altitude of 3,000 meters above sea level.
Mount Everest exceeds that height, standing at 8,848 meters.
In 2019, congestion and overcrowding were reported to have contributed to the deaths of 11 climbers within just 10 days at the most dangerous point of the climb.
At various points along the climb to Everest, trekkers are forced to pass by the frozen bodies of climbers who previously perished.
Despite the dangers, even the youngest climbers remain hopeful of conquering this iconic mountain.
