The results were announced by the organizing committee of the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award (VIFOTEC) on April 6 in Hanoi.
The awarded projects were selected from 180 entries submitted from across the country. The total value of the prizes is 772 million VND.
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) decided to award the prize for the best project at the VIFOTEC 2005 to a group of authors from Z112 Factory, under the General Department of Defense Industry (Ministry of National Defense). Vinacafe Bien Hoa Joint Stock Company received the WIPO-TROPHY for the best enterprise of 2005 for its application of the intellectual property system in production and business.
With the project titled “Establishing a Quantification Process for Hepatitis C Virus using Real-Time RT-PCR Techniques for Research and Treatment of Hepatitis C,” Associate Professor Dr. Ho Huynh Thuy Duong (University of Science, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City) was awarded the WIPO prize for the best female author. Meanwhile, student Dang Thuy Chi (Hanoi University of Transport) received the WIPO award for the best young innovator of 2005.
