The “Blue Diamond” Curse That Caused Thailand’s Queen Sirikit to Suffer a Stroke and the Curse of Lord Tamerlane That Led to the Death of 7.5 Million People… A Haunting Obsession.
1. The Curse of the “Blue Diamond”
In July 2012, beloved Queen Sirikit of Thailand suffered a stroke and has not appeared in public since. This incident sparked discussions among the public about a harsh curse surrounding the royal family, linked to one of the most notorious jewelry thefts in history.
The story began in 1989, not in Thailand, but at the palace of the Saudi royal family. At that time, the royal family had hired a Thai national as a gatekeeper, who broke into Prince Faisal’s room and stole a significant amount of jewelry, estimated to be worth around $20,000,000. This gatekeeper smuggled the stolen items back to Thailand by hiding them in a vacuum cleaner bag. Notably, among the stolen jewelry was a rumored 50-carat gemstone known as the “Blue Diamond” of the Saudi royal family.
Saudi authorities notified the Thai police, and the thief was quickly apprehended. However, before his arrest, he managed to sell a portion of his “loot.”
The remaining jewelry that had not been sold was swiftly returned to the Saudi royal family by the Thai police. However, the infamous “Blue Diamond” was notably missing. Thai police stated they found no traces of it, although some believe it was sold to noble families in Thailand.
In 1990, three Arab diplomats sent to Thailand to investigate the diamond were mysteriously shot dead. Although police denied any connection between the diplomats’ deaths and the blue diamond, the Saudi government suspected that the truth had been covered up. Following the deaths of the three Arab diplomats, the blue diamond was believed to carry a lethal curse on anyone who possessed it.
This curse gained traction when Queen Sirikit of Thailand suffered a stroke while wearing the diamond, thought to be the one stolen from the Saudi royal family. Rumors circulated that the diamond would curse anyone who touched it until it was returned to its rightful owner, the Saudi royal family.
2. The Harsh Curse That Led to Millions of Deaths
In 1941, a group of Soviet anthropologists arrived in Uzbekistan for an expedition. Their mission was to locate the tomb of Tamerlane and excavate the body within. Tamerlane, a famous lord from the 14th century, is regarded as a national hero in Uzbekistan. Local citizens and clerics voiced their objections to the excavation, warning that disturbing the lord’s eternal sleep would bring disaster.
Despite these warnings, expedition leader Mikhail Gerasimov disregarded the threats and proceeded with the excavation on June 19, 1941.
Remarkably, the inscription on the coffin read: “Whoever awakens me from my eternal slumber, the world shall be in chaos.”
True to the curse, just days after the excavation, Nazi Germany unexpectedly launched Operation Barbarossa and invaded the Soviet Union. The war indeed plunged the world into “chaos” and left the Soviet people in immense grief and loss.
Interestingly, after suffering severe setbacks in the war, the Soviet Union eventually turned the tide at the Battle of Stalingrad. Few know that before this operation, Stalin ordered the remains of Tamerlane to be returned and buried in Uzbekistan. Perhaps this is why the course of the war changed unexpectedly?
Many still believe that Tamerlane’s curse is indeed terrifying, as more than 7.5 million Soviet citizens died in the brutal war instigated by the Germans.
3. The Curse of the Hawaiian Volcano Goddess
Professor Kame from the University of Hawaii stated: “If you do not respect Pele, she will kill you.” Timothy Murray should have known this before moving to Honolulu, as he made the Hawaiian fire and volcano goddess Pele very upset.
One day, Timothy decided to visit Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Captivated by the black sand, he took some home and stored it in an empty water bottle. Afterward, everything around him began to deteriorate. His girlfriend of five years left him, and shortly after, Timothy was arrested for copyright infringement. Even his pet suddenly died.
And Timothy was not the only one to suffer from the curse. According to a Hawaiian legend, anyone who moves a volcanic rock or sand will face the wrath of the Hawaiian volcano goddess Pele, as she is believed to be furious when her rocks (which she considers her children) are taken by tourists.
Therefore, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park receives annual letters of apology and numerous packages containing the rocks returned by tourists. They recount experiencing terrible misfortune since stealing the rocks and wish to apologize to the goddess, seeking her forgiveness for their transgressions during their visit.
4. The Curse of Spider-Man
This curse is associated with the famous musical titled: “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark”. From rehearsals to performances, there were countless technical malfunctions and severe injuries among the actors.
The curse is believed to have started during rehearsals in 2010 when an actor broke his leg and suffered severe injuries. Subsequently, a stuntman also had an accident, injuring his wrist. The night before the opening performance, one of the lead actresses sustained a head injury from a cable. Even more frightening, after the play premiered, an actor suffered skull fractures, shoulder blade injuries, broken four ribs, and three vertebrae.
Most recently, five dancers were injured and had to perform through the pain until the end of the show. The author of the “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark” also mysteriously died of a stroke before the play was publicly performed.
5. The Curse of the Death Chair
In 1702 in North Yorkshire, England, a man named Thomas Busby killed his father-in-law for daring to sit in his favorite chair while drunk. As he faced execution, Thomas Busby shouted that anyone who dared to sit in that chair would face death. Following this, Thomas’s wife opened a pub, and many patrons attempted to sit in the cursed chair. Most of these brave souls ended up dead or severely injured.
The death toll rose so high that the owner of the chair had to take it to the Thirsk Museum, pleading for them to store it and ensure that no one would sit in it. The museum complied and placed the chair high in the display room to prevent curious guests from attempting to brave the haunted seat.
6. The Basano Vase
The Basano Vase appeared in Italy during the 1500s, and trouble started to arise in 1988 when it was accidentally unearthed. The vase was brought to the surface along with a note stating: “Be careful… This vase brings death.” Unfortunately, the person who discovered the Basano Vase decided to sell it at an auction and discarded the note. From that point on, deaths began to occur.
A pharmacist who purchased the vase died under mysterious circumstances within three months. Three subsequent owners also “passed away” shortly after acquiring it. When the final family recognized the curse of the Basano and found themselves unable to lift it, the police confiscated the vase and buried it in a secret location, hoping that no one would unwittingly dig it up again.
7. James Dean’s “Little Bastard” Car
“Little Bastard” was the name Dean used for his silver Porsche 550 Spyder, the car he was driving when he died in a crash in 1955. The vehicle was later purchased by designer George Barris, who intended to dismantle it for parts. The curse story began when the car fell from a trailer and crushed a mechanic’s leg. As the parts of the car were sold, the curse spread. A doctor who bought the engine died in a car accident; another victim who purchased the transmission was severely injured in a crash. Tires sold from Little Bastard exploded, sending the buyer to the hospital. Even while the car’s body was being transported, the truck carrying it was involved in a collision, resulting in the driver’s death. Subsequently, the car’s body was stolen, and the curse of Little Bastard faded into obscurity as its whereabouts became unknown.
8. Phone Number +359 888 888 888
You might think that a cursed phone number sounds like a horror movie script, but anyone who has ever used the number listed above has died. This list includes the CEO of a mobile phone company in Belarus, who died of cancer at the age of 48, a mafia boss, and a cocaine real estate agent, both of whom were shot dead. Since then, this phone number has never been used again, and the company that owns it has refused to comment on why.
