“Original Peeling Machine” by author Huỳnh Thái Dương (Bình Thuận), “Improved Tillage, Plowing, and Soybean Sowing Machine for Two Rice Crops” by author Nguyễn Hữu Tùy (Ứng Hòa, Hà Tây), “Peanut Shelling Machine” by author Đào Kim Tường (Bình Đinh), “Shaped Pumpkin Slicing Machine” by author Nguyễn Văn Sành (Hải Dương)…
These are some of the “projects” by amateur scientists, many of whom are farmers, included among the 57 technical solutions that reached the final round of the eighth National Technical Innovation Contest held in 2004-2005.
The contest serves as a “platform” for amateur scientists from all fields and backgrounds, regardless of age, to participate, and is organized nationwide every two years.
Mr. Chu Văn Quyến, Deputy Director of the VIFOTEC Fund in Vietnam, the organizing entity of the contest, stated that out of over 600 technical solutions submitted by authors across the country, the jury selected 57 for the final round.
According to Mr. Quyến, this year’s contest has the highest number of submissions to date. More than 30 provinces and cities have launched local contests. The solutions will be judged and awarded in five categories: Information Technology – Electronics – Telecommunications, Materials – Chemicals – Energy, Mechanical Automation – Construction – Transportation, Agriculture – Forestry – Fisheries – Environmental Resources, Education – Medicine, and other fields… for national-level competition.
Notably, for the first time, the Vietnam Farmers’ Union initiated a competition, attracting numerous “farmer innovators” with highly applicable technical solutions that made it to the final round. The solutions that reach the final round will be judged for awards across the same five categories: Information Technology – Electronics – Telecommunications, Materials – Chemicals – Energy, Mechanical Automation – Construction – Transportation, Agriculture – Forestry – Fisheries – Environmental Resources, Education – Medicine, and other fields.
The award ceremony for the eighth National Technical Innovation Contest will take place on January 19 at the Hanoi Opera House and will be broadcast live on VTV1.
