The Hunter Becomes the Prey.
A snake has captured a chick with the intention of eating its prey.
A Dione Rat Snake (scientific name: Elaphe dione, a non-venomous snake) discovered a bird’s nest high up. Immediately, it sought to climb up in search of prey. Upon reaching the nest, it realized that the mother bird had left to find food.
Seizing the opportunity, the snake captured a chick with the intent to consume it. However, a surprising turn of events occurred when the mother bird returned and aggressively chased the snake away from her nest.
The Dione Rat Snake had to retreat in search of other prey. While crawling on the ground, it fell into the sights of a mother hawk, ultimately becoming a delicious meal for her chicks.
