Heat wave returns to Northern Vietnam from July 24-27, followed by thunderstorms over the weekend. In contrast, rainfall in the Central Highlands and Southern regions is expected to gradually decrease from mid-week onwards.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported that on July 24, the heat wave continues in the Northern and North Central regions. The highest temperatures commonly reach 35-36 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 36 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity drops to a minimum of 55-60%.
In Hanoi, temperatures may continue to rise today, reaching a peak of 37 degrees Celsius. Residents moving on heat-absorbing surfaces like concrete and asphalt can feel temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.
The heat wave in the Northern and North Central regions is likely to last for several more days. Residents are advised to be cautious of the risk of fire and explosions in residential areas due to increased electricity consumption and the potential for forest fires.
Meanwhile, the area from Thua Thien Hue to Binh Thuan is experiencing scattered showers and thunderstorms, with rainfall amounts ranging from 15-30mm, and some areas exceeding 60mm.
Similarly, the Central Highlands and Southern regions are in a period of continuous afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. On July 24-25, total rainfall is expected to be between 50-100mm, with some areas receiving over 150mm.
Heavy rain in the Central Highlands and Southern regions, along with thunderstorms from Thua Thien Hue to Binh Thuan, is expected to continue for the next 3-4 days.
