The new beta version of IE will include a patch addressing recently uncovered issues in the previous beta release.
According to Dean Hachamovitch, the director responsible for IE development, users will be able to download the English version of the IE beta for free and run the patch to resolve freezing issues or conflicts between IE7 and other programs on their machines.
The previous beta version of IE7 encountered significant issues with news and banking websites, primarily due to the security changes implemented in the new browser.
Tightening security can sometimes act like a double-edged sword, as it may cause many legitimate websites to go offline and frustrate users.
Alongside the new beta version, Microsoft has also added specific guidelines to help users utilize the new tabbed browsing feature. This function allows users to view multiple websites within a single window.
IE7 is being prepared for launch at a time when Internet Explorer faces intense competition from other browsers. Firefox has long offered features that IE7 now claims as new, such as tabbed browsing. Many even argue that these browsers are more secure, as hackers primarily target IE.
The final beta version of IE7 is expected to be released in the second half of this year, close to the time Microsoft launches the Vista operating system for business users.
