According to reports from our correspondent, a section of road at the intersection of Vong Street and Nguyen An Ninh Street (Dong Tam Ward, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi) has seen many electronic devices, such as automatic gates, motorcycles, and cars controlled by smart keys, become inoperable, causing significant inconvenience and frustration for local residents.
Residents in the area have noted that this phenomenon has been observed for several days, impacting the daily lives and businesses of many local households. Particularly, many people are surprised and confused that mobile phone signals and Wi-Fi in this area are functioning normally.
The area where the strange event occurred.
Mr. Le Dinh Hieu (30 years old, residing at 315 Vong Street, Dong Tam Ward, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi) stated that his family submitted a report to the relevant authorities after noticing this issue.
“Smart devices such as automatic gates, motorcycles, and cars controlled by smart keys cannot operate. Motorcycles must be pushed out of the affected area to start. Residents and customers coming to eat breakfast or drink coffee are very perplexed by this phenomenon. We wonder if it affects people’s health,” Mr. Hieu shared.
According to Mr. Hieu, at first, he thought that the smart key was out of battery and went to replace it. However, even after changing the key, he still could not unlock it. At that point, confused, he asked some neighbors and received similar responses. Mr. Hieu mentioned that only the smart keys were affected, while mobile signals and internet connectivity remained normal.
“Motorcycles must be pushed out of a radius of about 100 meters affected before they can start. Many people with locked motorcycles struggled for 20 to 30 minutes to get their bikes out of the affected area,” Mr. Hieu added.
Many residents are confused when they cannot unlock their motorcycles.
According to our reporter’s observations, numerous vehicles using smart keys have stalled and cannot be unlocked. Only when pushed out of a distance of 50 to 100 meters do the vehicles operate normally again.
Mr. Hoang Minh Tuan struggled to push his locked scooter out of the area with weak smart key signals. Earlier, while dining at a restaurant at 232 Vong Street, he was warned by locals not to lock his bike, but he did not believe it and locked it anyway for safety. After 20 minutes, he and his wife and child were sweating as they finally managed to push the bike out of the area to start it.
“My family came here to eat, and the restaurant staff also advised not to lock the bike. However, to ensure the bike’s safety, I locked it. But when it was time to leave, I found myself in this situation. The bike was locked, and I was pulling and pushing it, sweating profusely. I find this strange,” Mr. Tuan said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Hoang Trung Thanh (50 years old, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi) also struggled for several minutes without being able to unlock his car. Initially, he thought his key was out of battery. When informed that the area was affected by signal interference, he had to borrow a screwdriver to dismantle the smart lock and retrieve his spare key.
“This is the first time I’ve encountered such a situation. Fortunately, I had a spare key with me; otherwise, I would have to call a tow truck,” Mr. Thanh said.
