Inside the U32 Submarine |
Germany has developed a submarine that uses hybrid energy with the world’s longest dive record of two weeks, according to Navysaid.
The advanced U32 submarine, of the U212A class, completed an underwater journey from Eckernförde in Germany to Rota in Spain from April 11 to April 25, according to the German news agency DPA.
This submarine features a hybrid propulsion system consisting of an electric motor powered by batteries that combust hydrogen gas. The capabilities of this propulsion system were successfully demonstrated during the journey.
The U32 submarine is utilized to protect the Strait of Gibraltar and the Mediterranean Sea as part of the fight against terrorism, according to DPA.
The DPA further stated: “Submarines using hybrid energy have stealth capabilities, operate almost silently, and do not emit any exhaust fumes.”
