In life, there are incredible and inexplicable coincidences, leading people to naturally contemplate the mysterious aspect of fate.
Can these strange coincidences be explained as mere chance, or does science offer alternative theories on the matter?
On July 28, 1900, King Umberto I of Italy dined at a restaurant in the city of Monza. It was revealed that the restaurant owner also shared the name Umberto, was born on the same day as the king, in the same city, and their wives had the same name. Furthermore, both weddings took place on the same day, and the restaurant opened its doors exactly on the day the king ascended the throne.
The king and this ordinary man were delighted by this peculiar encounter and agreed to meet the next day at the stadium. However, the following morning, restaurant owner Umberto suddenly passed away, and the king expressed his condolences. Just a few hours later, he was assassinated by an anarchist. Their fates diverged only in the sense that they died in different locations.

In 1896, science fiction writer Morgan Robertson published a novel titled *The Wreck of the Titan* in London about the maiden and final voyage of the world’s largest passenger ship, which met with disaster after hitting an iceberg. The “Titan” mentioned in the book also met its fate in April 1912…
On August 6, 1978, at 9:40 PM, the favorite alarm clock of Pope Paul VI suddenly rang. It had functioned flawlessly for 55 years and was still set for 6 AM, but at that exact moment, its owner passed away.
Famed actor Anthony Hopkins, while preparing for his role in the film *The Girls on Petrovka*, struggled to find a copy of the novel. However, he stumbled upon a copy of the book on a bench in the street, signed by the author for the film’s director.
How can we explain the bizarre coincidences surrounding the tragic fates of U.S. presidents elected in years ending with the number zero? Presidents Lincoln (1860), Garfield (1880), McKinley (1900), and Kennedy (1960) were all assassinated; Harrison (1840) died of pneumonia, Roosevelt (1940) succumbed to polio, and Harding (1920) died of a heart attack. President Reagan survived an assassination attempt in 1980.
In 2000, George W. Bush entered the White House. Fate protected him, but during his presidency, the horrific terrorist attacks of September 11 occurred in the United States.
