The First Robot in China for Inspecting High-Voltage Power Transmission Lines Has Been Developed in Shenyang, the Capital of Liaoning Province in Northeast China.
According to the inventor from the Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA) under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, this is the first robot of its kind in the world. The robot is capable of moving freely and inspecting the status of 500kV power transmission lines. The demands for safety and stability in electricity supply have necessitated the replacement of human supervisors with robots for high-voltage power transmission lines.
