On the evening of May 6, at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House, the organizing committee of the Ho Chi Minh City 2005 Science and Technology Innovation Contest held an awards ceremony for authors and groups whose research projects won prizes in the contest. The awards included 10 scientific innovation prizes (one first prize, four second prizes, five third prizes) and 28 technical innovation prizes (one first prize, three second prizes, 12 third prizes, and 12 encouragement prizes).
The 2005 contest attracted 125 project submissions across seven specialized fields of science and technology: mechanics and automation, electronics and informatics, biotechnology, food technology, environmental technology and infrastructure, healthcare, teaching tools and equipment…
The first prize for technical innovation was awarded to the project “BIOSOL – Organic Microelement Soil” (Master Vo Thanh Liem, Clean Soil Company Limited). On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee also decided to award certificates of merit to four businesses and six individuals with five or more patent and utility solution applications submitted for protection.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Deputy Chairman Nguyen Thien Nhan stated that in the near future, Ho Chi Minh City will have a “bank of creative solutions.” He noted that the establishment of such a “brain bank” would provide opportunities for innovators to find funding sources while also helping those in need to gain benefits from these creative solutions.
