The “Virtual Flash Drive” (VFD) tool allows you to create multiple “virtual hard drives” on your actual hard disk.
To create a virtual hard drive, click the “Create” button, then go to “Save Path” to name the file containing your virtual drive -> Go to “Size” to specify the size of your virtual drive in MB. The virtual drive will be a file with the .EDK extension, and all data within the virtual drive is actually stored in this EDK file.
VFD offers high security features; it requires you to enter a password to access the virtual drive in the “Password” field and also prompts you to provide a security question and answer in the “Question” and “Answer” fields. Set a title for your virtual drive in the “Title” field, and finally click OK to initialize the drive, which creates the EDK file and formats the newly created virtual drive. Once created, Windows will immediately recognize it and assign it a drive letter just like a USB flash drive plugged into the computer, functioning as an independent hard drive.
You can create as many virtual drives as you want; just click “Create” to make a new virtual drive. When you need to use a specific virtual drive, simply click on the designated file name, then press the “Mount” button to access that drive or click the “Unmount” button to hide it.
DVDXimager is currently selling the Virtual Flash Drive v2.0 for $15. Users can visit http://www.dvdximager.com/vdisk.exe to download the trial version.
