Compactness is the ultimate goal pursued by many handheld device manufacturers. Recently, the company Eo has publicly announced its ultra-thin “supercomputer,” the UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC). The v7110 model is only 0.98 inches thick, with a surface area of 8.98 x 5.75 inches, and weighs less than 2 pounds (approximately 1 kg) including the battery.
The standard memory capacity is 256MB, which can be upgraded to 1GB. The hard drive has a capacity of 40GB but can be upgraded to 160GB. It features a 7-inch TFT LCD touchscreen. The lithium-ion battery can run for 2.5 hours, with an additional battery providing another 1.5 hours of operation.
The Eo v7110 operates on the desktop version of the Windows XP operating system. When working wirelessly, you can select between the 802.11b or g standards or Bluetooth, depending on the connectivity options available in your area.
This ultra-slim UMPC comes with an AC Adapter and a set of headphones or a microphone. If you prefer not to use your fingers to operate the touchscreen, you can also use a stylus for easier navigation on the screen.
The Eo v7110 is priced at $899, but the price may vary depending on the configuration you choose.
