Paleontologists have discovered a fossilized tree in the Kon Tum mountain region. A portion of this tree has now been relocated to a preservation area in Phuoc Dong, Nha Trang.
This is the largest fossilized tree discovered to date.
According to paleontologist Ho Khiem, who is currently overseeing the tree, it is a coniferous tree buried beneath 4 meters of soil, with only a small part exposed.
Upon excavation, the tree revealed a length of 14 meters, a diameter ranging from 80 to 90 cm, and an estimated weight of 12 tons. The wood has a very beautiful color, particularly at the 90 cm diameter mark.
Mr. Ho Khiem stated that the fossilization of this tree must have occurred over 200 million years ago.
