Unlike typical public transport, a special bus in Singapore operates only 7 times a year, specifically providing rides through cemeteries.
According to Must Share News, the 405 bus route by SBS Transit in Singapore has many “mysterious” features as it only runs on 7 occasions throughout the year, each time for a few days, and is dedicated to transporting passengers to cemeteries.
In fact, this bus operates during holidays in Singapore, when people have the need to visit their deceased loved ones. Some even refer to Bus 405 as the “worship bus.”
The special bus passes through special locations.
Operating 7 times a year, Bus 405 begins its journey from the Boon Lay intersection, before heading to various cemeteries in Northwest Singapore. The bus passes by a Muslim cemetery and the Masjid Pusara Aman mosque on Jalan Bahar before arriving at the Nirvana Memorial Garden. It then continues to the Chinese cemetery on Lim Chu Kang Road and passes by the Choa Chu Kang Cemetery Chapel. Finally, the bus returns to its starting point.
On the days the bus operates, it runs only from 7 AM to 5 PM. Some bus stops along the route are exclusively built for Bus 405.
Some bus stops are only serviced by the 405 bus.
Bus 405 also has quite unique driver selection criteria. Due to the long route, the bus only hires young male drivers. Additionally, drivers must take a trial run on this route to “practice” before each operational occasion.
