Gallo Lungo Island (also known as Gallos) is located in Italy, nestled between Capri and Positano. Although named after a rooster, the shape of the island remarkably resembles that of a giant dolphin. One end of the island features a wide, flat rock formation that looks like a fish tail, while the other end juts out similar to a dolphin’s snout, with a slight curve in the middle.
This unique shape has placed Gallo on the list of the strangest-shaped islands in the world.

Legend has it that the island is home to a bird with a human head and a bird’s body, known as “the bird fairy.” This bird fairy has a form that is half-woman and half-bird. Their enchanting songs would lure sailors towards the island, only to be submerged by hidden rocks. This explains the name Gallos, which implies a half-bird, with the Italian meaning being “rooster.”
Visitors can come here to enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and exploring the coral reefs around the island, but only tourists staying on the island are allowed to dock, providing them with breathtaking views and excellent resort services in the villas located there.

On the island, in addition to a villa surrounded by the beautiful blue ocean, there are ancient vineyards that create a vast terraced garden. To ensure privacy for meals, relaxation, and recreational activities, the island accommodates a maximum of 12 guests at a time. This exclusivity makes the experience on Gallos truly unique.
Rental prices are high, so the island rarely sees many visitors.
The best time to visit Gallo Lungo is in April, May, or October, November when there are fewer tourists, the weather is cool, and the waves are calm, making it ideal for relaxation and outdoor activities.
Despite its fame, the high rental prices mean that the island seldom receives many visitors. It is said that only the world’s wealthiest elite can afford to pay for the entire lodging services available here.
