German scientists have established an exhibition area for the UNESCO World Heritage Site Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng at the Cologne Zoo in Germany.
This exhibition showcases globally significant specimens from the Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng heritage, particularly its biodiversity and endemic species.
Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004, covering a total area of over 85,750 hectares. Located in the North Truong Son ecological region, Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng is considered one of the 238 important ecological zones worldwide, featuring over 300 caves and home to more than 1,080 animal species, including 140 mammals, 356 birds, 162 fish, 144 amphibians and reptiles, 50 aquatic species, 270 butterfly species, and 10 primate species.
Currently, Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park is a habitat for numerous rare and endangered plant and animal species worldwide.
