On May 17th in Hanoi, the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute collaborated with the Japan Atomic Energy Industry Forum to hold a seminar on nuclear power aimed at sharing Japan’s experiences in this field.
At the seminar, Mr. Hajimu Maeda, a member of the Japan Atomic Energy Commission, presented Japan’s policies and international cooperation regarding atomic energy, emphasizing that nuclear power in Japan has developed into a source of electricity that is highly safe, reliable, and economical.
In the field of nuclear energy, Japan is one of the most active collaborators with Vietnam. After starting the operation of its first light water reactor in 1970 and continuously constructing various nuclear power plants, Japan now has 55 operational units, accounting for approximately 30% of the country’s total electricity production. The light water reactor technology has become the leading technology in terms of safety, reliability, high efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in operation and maintenance.
