Robots Can Be Guided to Massage the Entire Back or Target Specific Areas.
Rizon 4 Massage Therapy Robot.
Recently, Flexiv Technology from California, USA, has introduced a robot designed to replace human massage therapists. This robot is named Rizon 4. It features a robotic arm with seven degrees of freedom, weighs 20kg, and is equipped with a soft silicone heated massage tool.
Flexiv’s adaptive robot simulates the skills and dexterity of a human massage therapist. It combines computer vision and AI-based software (linked to the control box) to initially identify the approximate position of the patient’s spine and major muscle groups. It then uses the silicone tool and a force feedback system to accurately establish their positions through various probes.
During the massage process, the robot employs a tool to press on the patient’s back muscles, mimicking techniques used in Chinese deep tissue massage. The robot can be directed to massage the entire back or target specific areas. The massage area is determined by AI, which ensures optimal massage pressure is consistently maintained, promptly responding to movements, contours, and even the smallest corners.
