Author Lưu Văn Phong has recently introduced on various forums a trial version of a pocket calculator program named Viet_Calculator, which has been fully localized for Vietnamese users and comes with many unique features, making it particularly suitable for high school students.
In addition to standard calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and square roots, Viet_Calculator also computes functions like Sin, Cos, Tang, Pi, and supports copy and paste features.
The ability to solve first, second, and third-degree equations is considered unique and highly useful for high school students. The program’s interface is simple and user-friendly; users just need to navigate to the “Applications” menu -> select the desired application -> input the values for a, b, c corresponding to the parameters presented in a clear manner -> and then press the “Solve” button to get the appropriate results from Viet_Calculator. For more complex calculations such as solving third-degree equations, the author has provided a helpful guide to enable users to find solutions quickly.
Besides the calculation utilities, Viet_Calculator also offers attractive features such as converting Celsius to Fahrenheit and vice versa; entering a birth year to determine the corresponding zodiac sign; and viewing detailed information about the calculator being used.
As this is a trial version, running Viet_Calculator may still encounter some bugs, leading to occasionally inaccurate results compared to manual calculations, especially with complex calculations like second and third-degree equations. The program may also experience errors, particularly when switching to other applications while using Viet_Calculator, and the interface is still somewhat rough around the edges.
Being an open-source program, the entire source code has also been included by the author for everyone to reference and modify. Users can click here to download and try it out.
