Sergei Fetisov, a visually impaired individual from Vladimir, Russia, possesses a remarkable ability: he can distinguish colors through touch. Additionally, he can “see” the aura of a person and identify where they are in pain.

Sergei lost his sight at the age of 14 due to a mistake of his own. Out of curiosity, the boy devised a way to create a handgun and went out to test it. The gun exploded in his hand, sending a bullet into his left eye and damaging Sergei’s skull. Doctors believed he would not survive, but he did, although he had to endure permanent blindness.
Despite losing his sight, Sergei Fetisov did not succumb to fate; he lived and worked with remarkable determination. He joined the Russian Society of the Blind, learned to read using Braille, and took on the role of a delivery person. A few years ago, during an unexpected encounter, Sergei discovered he had a special talent. A woman came to the Society to teach blind individuals to distinguish colors through touch. Most members could not identify the colors from the cards she presented, but Sergei was able to discern them all. After a period of persistent training, Sergei became proficient in identifying colors by feeling objects.
However, not everyone believed in Sergei’s extraordinary ability, even his close friends were skeptical of his color-detecting skills with his fingers. They often sought opportunities to test him.
On one occasion, a familiar woman challenged Sergei to identify her hair color. Sergei held her hair, feeling it for a long time before he could accurately state the color. Eventually, he awkwardly remarked, “Actually, your hair has many colors… It’s strange that it has red, white, and black.” Upon hearing this, the woman burst into laughter. She revealed that she had recently dyed her hair in various colors, and Sergei had correctly named the colors among the many unusual shades.
Not long after, Sergei surprised everyone by revealing additional abilities, such as being able to “see” the aura emitted by a person and indicate where they are experiencing pain. He emphasized that he cannot diagnose illnesses but can sense when someone is suffering from a headache or toothache. He perceives the aura by touching the individual. “The aura of each person is different, but it is never monochromatic. A good aura is bright, either yellow or red, while a bad aura appears black or brown,” he explained.
Sergei believes he is not a magician. According to him, sometimes individuals reveal a special skill after experiencing a severe injury. Currently, Sergei takes every opportunity to travel and participate in sports such as swimming and running. Playing chess has become his new hobby. He can use regular chess pieces since he can distinguish their colors through touch.
Andrey Bannikov, the head of the rehabilitation department at the Society of the Blind, believes that blind individuals have highly sensitive fingers. They can read Braille books very quickly, and some can even read worn-out texts, but he had never heard of anyone using their fingers to identify colors. None of the 202,000 blind members of the society can demonstrate this special talent, except for Sergei Fetisov. His ability may be connected to a mysterious realm that humanity has yet to decipher.
