In a maternity ward, several 10-second clips of crying babies were recorded and shown to mothers with the sound turned off. The result was that most mothers easily guessed whether the baby was hungry, in pain, or tired.
When a similar experiment was conducted with fathers, the results were disappointing: less than 10% of fathers could identify more than two signs of the baby’s needs (there were even suspicions that some fathers were just guessing correctly). Many fathers had to admit, “Mothers know what the baby needs; we’re at a loss“. Another study showed that most sisters could distinguish between identical twins, while a majority of fathers surrendered.
When entering a room with about 50 couples, women could identify the relationships among the pairs within 10 minutes. Women’s perceptive abilities even allow them to discern which couples are deeply in love, which are having a quarrel, and which are just friends… In contrast, if a man enters the room, he will glance around and immediately look for an exit. Clearly, a man’s brain is always focused on potential dangers and how to escape.
So, please don’t get frustrated if your boyfriend doesn’t quickly guess what you want when you’re sulking. It’s evident that men’s sixth sense is far inferior to that of women.
